John Rees, PE

Energy Engineer

John Rees is an Energy Engineer who performs energy assessments in facilities from churches to large industry.  He focuses on energy saving measures in HVAC, lighting, and building envelope systems.  Where appropriate, he evaluates solar energy opportunities.

Mr. Rees spent eight years in renewable energy and energy efficiency programs at NC State University in the NC Solar Center (now the Clean Energy Technology Center) and the Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering Department.

Prior to working at NC State University, Mr. Rees had an engineering career in industrial and utility steam and power generation from boilers that fired coal, oil, bark, sawdust, and municipal refuse.  His experience also included industrial and utility steam turbine-generators fueled by No. 2 fuel oil, natural gas, and naphtha.  He specialized in control systems for overall facility control strategies, boiler combustion control, plant auxiliary systems, and continuous emission monitoring systems (CEMS).
